Why Your Genes, Age and Past Don’t Define Your Health & Wellbeing

Many people believe their health is determined by genetics, ageing or simply bad luck. While these factors can play a role, what I see time and again in my work is that chronic stress is one of the main missing pieces of the puzzle.

Our bodies are designed for survival. When we experience stress or trauma, the nervous system shifts into fight, flight or freeze to protect us. This response is helpful in short bursts, but when stress becomes ongoing, the body can remain in this protective state far longer than it was designed for.

Over time, this can affect many systems of the body including muscles, digestion, hormones, immunity, sleep and energy levels. Many people experience pain, fatigue or health challenges not simply because of age, but because their system has been carrying unresolved stress for years.

This is where kinesiology comes in...

Kinesiology works with the body’s stress response, helping to identify and clear stored physical, emotional and subconscious stress patterns. As these stresses begin to settle, the nervous system can return to a more balanced state, allowing the body to function more efficiently and often supporting other healing approaches.

Many people are surprised to discover how much earlier life experiences can still be influencing their health. Stressful experiences from childhood or significant life events can shape how we respond to life, often creating protective patterns that once helped us cope but may no longer serve us.

Through gentle, trauma-informed kinesiology sessions, these patterns can be worked with safely, supporting the body, heart and mind to let go of what is no longer needed.

"After each session I've felt lighter and brighter. But the true results were how I felt days/weeks later. I can feel a change in me. One of strength and kindness for myself, literally for the first time in my life."

Kinesiology is an energetic healing practice that gently rebalances the nervous system and the subtle energy body. Blending psychological and spiritual insight, it helps you uncover the deeper emotional patterns behind stress and guides you back to harmony.

Kinesiology is part of the wellness model  - not just something to turn to when things go wrong. Just as we support our health through good nutrition, movement and rest, regularly supporting the body to release stress helps maintain balance and resilience over time.

This is something I have experienced personally.

Before I discovered kinesiology I had ongoing physical pain including a frozen shoulder after a car accident, struggled with anxiety and learned  back when I was a teenager to cope with discomfort by numbing out and distracting with alcohol, cigarettes, prescribed medications, etc. I also found myself making excuses and staying too long in relationships which weren't healthy for me and felt unsure of my direction in life.

Beginning kinesiology sessions in my mid 30's became such a life changer. As I started receiving regular balances, not only did the physical symptoms of pain resolve, but my relationship with myself become one of greater compassion and understanding.

Today I live pain free, take no medications and no longer rely on unhealthy coping strategies to get me through. I consciously choose relationships that feel respectful and aligned with my values. When stress arises, I support myself through mindfulness, yoga and regular kinesiology sessions. I have healed through so much and now make more empowered and self-honouring choices.

I have a much deeper sense of who I am and live a balanced, happy and healthy life, supporting others in our community to do the same.

At 50, people often comment that I look well, but what matters most to me is that I genuinely feel well - calmer, clearer, more resilient and at peace in my heart. Regular monthly kinesiology sessions are an integral part of how I maintain my health and balance along with a daily practice.

What I have experienced is that when stress is reduced, the body finds its way back toward homeostasis. After sessions we are better able to respond to life rather than react from old patterns. These changes lead to making more  empowered choices, cultivating healthier relationships in life, and as a result better health and wellbeing in all areas of our lives.

Health is not just about fixing symptoms. It's about supporting the whole person from the foundations up.

Importantly, healing is not limited by your past or your DNA. With the right support, the body and mind have an incredible capacity to adapt, restore and move toward greater health at any stage of life.

If you feel ready to experience a natural, holistic approach to happiness, wellness and empowerment I would be honoured to walk alongside you on that journey.
